Jason Mertin is a lifelong martial artist and self defense instructor with over 30 years on the mat and in the gym. He holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Israeli Krav Maga, a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, and a 1st Degree Black Belt in Hapkido, blending striking, joint manipulation, and close quarter skills into one practical system.
With a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Movement Science and a background as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Jason’s training is grounded in biomechanics, functional strength, and real-world performance.
He is a CORE Certified Krav Maga Shield Instructor and a Level 1 certified weapons instructor focused on defending against clubs, knives, and firearms at close range. His training approach uses “stress inoculation” so clients can perform under pressure, not just in the comfort of a gym.
As a father of four daughters, Jason’s mission is simple: empower people to protect themselves and those they love. He now teaches individuals, families, women’s groups, corporate teams, and high risk professionals across Central Florida, helping them build confidence,
awareness, and practical self defense skills that work in real life.
If you want training that is direct, respectful, and focused on what actually keeps you safe, you are in the right place.
