For Women Prioritizing Personal & Family Safety in Central Florida
Build Real Confidence, Training in a Space Where You Already Feel At Home
Private, in-home Krav Maga training paced around you, never rushed, never combative, always building toward genuine confidence. Train on your own, or bring a friend or family member so the first session isn't one you're walking into alone.
The Real Reason It Keeps Getting Put Off
Would You Feel Steady and Clear If You Needed To Be?
A lot of women think about personal safety training at some point, and then don't book it. Not because the idea isn't worth it. Because the format gets in the way.
A studio class means walking into a room of people you don't know, on someone else's schedule, before you've even decided if it's the right fit. For some people that's fine. For a lot of people, it's exactly enough friction to keep the idea on a list instead of on the calendar.
There's also a quieter question sitting underneath all of it, not a dramatic one, just a practical one: if a moment called for it, would you feel steady and clear about what to do? That question doesn't answer itself. And skipping the studio class you keep meaning to sign up for doesn't make it go away.
Training built around you changes the equation. It happens in your own space, at a pace that's never rushed and never combative, so the confidence you build actually belongs to you, instead of being borrowed from keeping up with a room full of people moving at someone else's speed.
What Actually Changes
Training Built Around You, Not a Class You Adjust Yourself To
Training In The Space Where You're Already Comfortable
No studio to walk into, no room of unfamiliar faces to size up before the first session even starts. Training happens in your own home, or a studio session by appointment, if you'd rather.
Never Rushed, Never Combative, Always At Your Pace
Every client trains at a pace that builds genuine confidence, never rushed and never combative. You set the pace that makes the skills actually stick, not the pace of a class built for a room of strangers.
Bring a Friend or Family Member If You'd Rather Not Start Alone
Sessions scale from private one-on-one up to four people training together. If you'd feel more comfortable starting with someone you already trust beside you, that's built into the format, not an afterthought.
Skills You Actually Retain, Not Just Repeat
Training uses stress inoculation: practicing under realistic pressure so your response becomes automatic, the same way running a fire drill enough times means you don't have to think during the real thing. You leave with skill that holds up outside the training room.
Taught By the Same Credentialed Instructor, Every Session
No rotating instructors. Every session is led personally by a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Israeli Krav Maga with 30+ years across three martial arts disciplines, the same person coaching you in month one and in month six.
Confidence That Shows Up Everywhere Else, Too
Training your body and mind to stay steady under simulated pressure carries into the rest of your life: more focus, less reactivity, a steadier baseline at work, at home, wherever pressure shows up.
Why Trust This Training
Credentials That Actually Back The Claims
This training is led by a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Israeli Krav Maga (Krav Maga Shield Advanced Instructor), a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, and a Black Belt in Hapkido, 30+ years of martial arts training across three disciplines. Add a background as a former Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS, NSCA) and certification as a weapons instructor for close-quarter defense against clubs, knives, and firearms, and you get a depth of cross-trained expertise that's genuinely uncommon in a single instructor.
Trained Where You're Already Comfortable
Across the established Krav Maga programs in the Central Florida area, true in-home delivery is the one structural feature that's consistently missing: training happens at their facility, on their schedule. Here, it happens in your space, on your time: your living room, your garage, or a studio session by appointment.
The Same Instructor, Every Single Session
No rotating instructors, no outsourcing. Every session is taught personally, which means real continuity: the person who understands your goals in week one is the same person coaching you in month six.

Before You Book
Questions Worth Answering Up Front
Do I have to train by myself?
No. Sessions scale from private one-on-one up to four people training together, so you can bring a friend, a partner, or a family member if you'd rather not start alone.
What if I've never done any kind of martial arts or self-defense training before?
Every session starts with a quick readiness check, then follows a clear plan: warm-up, skills, scenario practice, cool-down, built around your current experience level and goals, not a fixed curriculum everyone starts at the same place in.
Where do sessions actually happen?
In your own home, by default, or at a studio by appointment, if you'd prefer. Both options are available; you decide what works.
Is there a guarantee?
The free consultation comes with a clear promise: you'll leave with a personalized training plan and an honest answer about fit, with no pressure to book anything after. That promise covers the consultation experience. It isn't a guarantee of a specific self-defense outcome, which no responsible program can promise.
The Guide
He Taught These Same Skills To His Own Daughters
Jason Mertin has spent over three decades training across three martial arts disciplines (Israeli Krav Maga, Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido), because he kept asking the same question: does this actually hold up, or does it just look good in a controlled room? That question led him to Krav Maga in 2013 and has shaped every session he's taught since.
Before specializing in self-defense, Jason worked as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS, NSCA), which is why the training here isn't just technique: it's technique built on real biomechanics, trained the way a conditioning specialist would build it. He's also a certified weapons instructor, trained specifically in close-quarter defense against clubs, knives, and firearms, a specialty most self-defense programs don't offer at all.
But the most personal proof point isn't a credential. Jason is a father of four daughters, and the same techniques taught in this training are the ones he built into his own family, not to make them aggressive, but to make them confident, aware, and capable of trusting their own judgment. That's the philosophy behind everything here: empowerment through knowledge. Understanding the "how and why" behind a technique builds independence, not dependence on an instructor standing over your shoulder.
